Santa Barbara engagement photos in the Funkzone

If you’ve never been to Santa Barbara you NEED to go asap! It’s the cutest little town just north of Los Angeles. The charming white buildings mixed with the palm trees and the beach make it the most dreamy little town in Southern California. When Tessa and Patrick booked me for their Santa Barbara wedding later this year, I was immediately excited! They mentioned that they were having a Santa Barbara wedding because they love the town so much. It’s where they spent a lot of time together and it’s where they got engaged to. A few weeks ago we headed up the coast for the Santa Barbara engagement session. We met at their favorite winery in the Funkzone so we could chat, hangout and allow them to feel laid back about their session.

We headed out to shoot around the FunkZone and around State Street. We had a loose plan on where we wanted to shoot but they showed me around to their favorite areas. I feel like every engagement session should be spent/shot in a place that means something to your relationship. Their Santa Barbara engagement photos mean so much more to them because they were taken in spots that they’ve spent enjoying special time together.

We ended their Santa Barbara engagement session, in true SoCal fashion, at the beach! We walked down state street straight to the beach right as the sun was setting. I loved that they didn’t do the typical beach photos. They kept it true to them and they turned out to be some of my favorite engagement photos!

I loved adventuring around town for their Santa Barbara engagement photos and can’t wait to do it again for their wedding in a few months woo!
