25 Best San Francisco Engagement Photo Locations

San Fran has easily become one of my frequent favorite places to visit along the coast of California. When it comes to picking the perfect location for your engagement photos, it doesn’t get much better than beautiful San Francisco. 1. Japanese Tea Garden

This garden is the oldest Japanese garden in San Francisco. With tranquil water gardens and plenty of stunning visuals – this tea garden would be the perfect place for your San Francisco engagement photos.  

2. Baker Beach 

With cinematic views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Marin Headlands – Baker Beach is the place to go for your San Francisco engagement photos. I love the picturesque atmosphere Baker Beach provides for photos, and the general feel of the area is nothing short of magical. 

3. Lover’s Lane Trail 

Another top location for the romantic San Francisco engagement photos of your dreams is this stunning trail. Lover’s Lane is known for its romantic tunnel of trees and fairytale-like appearance. Take a stroll in Lover’s Lane as you and your fiancé celebrate your next step in your journey. 

4. Sutro Baths 

Come get lost in the wonder of the past as you walk among the ruins of the 1850’s Sutro Bath structure. Snapping pictures at this romantic spot is a must for your San Francisco engagement photos. You’ll have a full view of the ocean, access to cliffs, and a forest for your ideal San Francisco engagement photos. 

5. The Palace of Fine Arts 

If you have a taste for ancient architecture and you love the romance of ancient Greek culture – then the palace is the perfect place for your San Francisco engagement photos to be done! The palace of fine arts also has walking gardens and lakes, which are perfect for a romantic engagement shoot. 

6. Pier 7 

If you’re more of a city kind of couple – then Pier 7 is the way to go. This well-known location is famous for its long walking pier, you might have seen it in the movies! Snap your San Francisco engagement pictures while walking on this classic pier for an engagement memory of a lifetime.

I absolutely love Lands End because of its stunning views and cinematic backdrops. If you and your lover enjoy the outdoors and don’t mind going for a walk – then Lands End is the perfect choice for your San Francisco engagement photos. 

8. Crissy Field Beach 

This beach is the ideal spot for a coastal view of the Golden Gate Bridge. I highly recommend Crissy Field’s dreamy sand dunes for any San Francisco engagement!

9. Legion of Honor Museum 

With pillars of white and stunning stone architecture surrounding a breathtaking art museum – this spot is the best place for any San Fran couple. The Legion of Honor Museum is a historic fine arts museum that provides the perfect backdrop for your San Francisco engagement photos. 

10. The Lyon Street Steps 

One of the best city and park views San Fran can offer is on the steps of Lyon Street. These steps are encased by a beautiful row of symmetrical bushes that overlook the San Francisco Bay, which makes for great engagement photos. 

11. Kirby Cove 

Kirby Cove is the sweetest little nook for any engaged couple to take their pictures at! In June of this year – I had the privilege of shooting Mckenna and Brian’s adventurous engagement along the cove’s shoreline. It was definitely one of my favorite San Francisco locations to shoot at!

12. The Presidio Park 

This romantic park is the hot spot for any couple looking to shoot their engagement in San Francisco. With close to 1,500 acres of land – the Presidio Park stands apart from all other engagement locations due to its wide variety of woodland areas, fields, and trails.

13. Alamo Square

Alamo Square is just what it sounds like – it’s a square park located in the center of a historic neighborhood. This neighborhood is home to colorful houses created in Victorian style, and absolutely captivating. Posing in this park would make for the perfect San Francisco engagement photos. 

14. Golden Gate Overlook 

This rounded concrete plaza is one of my all-time favorite places to visit for beautiful engagement photos. Standing on this plaza gives you full visibility of the infamous Golden Gate Bridge. Just imagine posing with your love during sunset at this classic San Francisco location.

15. Shakespeare Garden 

The Shakespeare Garden has so much to offer when it comes to your San Francisco engagement photos! This beautiful garden is home to so many stunning flowers and beautiful pathways that will make the most breathtaking scene for your engagement session. 

16. Strawberry Hill

This hidden gem of a destination has everything any romantic couple could dream of for their San Francisco engagement photos! Located in the middle of Stow Lake – this pretty spot offers a cascading waterfall, a beautiful walking bridge, and plenty of greenery to use in your engagement photos. 

17. San Francisco Marina Yacht Harbor 

Otherwise known as the oldest recreational marina operating in San Francisco – this harbor is home to a great number of vessels. Imagine walking along the boats and standing by the water for your San Francisco engagement photos in this location. The San Francisco marina yacht harbor is such a beautiful place for any couple to snap their engagement photos at.

18. Alta Plaza Park 

This park offers 360-degree views of the entire city of San Francisco! If you’re looking to snap your pictures from high above the city – the Alta Plaza Park is open all day to midnight on most days.

19. Lombard Street 

Talk about a classic San Francisco location! Lombard street is well known for its winding road that follows a zig-zag shape all the way down a massive hill. Surrounded by flowers and bushes, and coated in sunlight – this San Francisco location is totally darling for your engagement photos.

20. Inner Richmond 

The Inner Richmond district in San Francisco is one of the most captivating neighborhoods around the city. With its sweet atmosphere and bright houses lining the wide-open roads – this destination is a great choice for simple and unique engagement photos. 

21. Point Reyes National Seashore 

I cannot get over the view of this location. The Point Reyes National Seashore looks like it came right out of a magazine shoot or major movie film. With cliffs, full access to the ocean, and a mesmerizing shoreline – I’m sure the views of this national location will not disappoint. 

22. Fort Point Historic Site 

You don’t have to be into history to choose this well-known site as the perfect location for your San Francisco engagement photos. Once used as a fort to protect the San Francisco Bay from any potential attack – this historic site is definitely worth considering for your San Francisco engagement shoot!

23. The Conservatory of Flowers 

If you’re ready to be surrounded by some of the city’s best plants and flowers – then the conservatory is the place to go for your engagement photos. Between the west gallery and the orchid pavilion – you’ll be sure to find the dream spot for your engagement.

24. Santa Cruz 

I am a big fan of the Santa Cruz area for engagement shoots. I did an afternoon session with Melody and Kyle in this magical location and it was absolutely breathtaking. The Santa Cruz area offers access to the ocean, giant redwoods, and plenty of trails to explore.

25. San Francisco City Hall  

City Hall is the place to go for your San Francisco engagement photos. It’s a classic and for good reason. With its sweeping staircase, stunning architecture, lighting, and overall grandeur – San Fran city hall is the ideal location for any engaged couple.
