Courtney and Dave have been together for years – they moved out to California from the East Coast together to pursue their careers, and they decided to weave a whole lot of our sunny, West Coast energy into their beautiful Mission Bay wedding. Who doesn’t love a party on the beach?
Courtney’s vision was for a tropical wedding on a beachfront, and The Dana on Mission Bay in San Diego turned out to be the perfect venue. The couple said their vows framed by towering palms, literally a stone’s throw from the water. Boats moved back and forth over the bay behind them, the palm leaves rustled, and a soft sea breeze blew in to ruffle the veil – the whole scene felt peaceful and utterly joyous.
A few weeks before their Mission Bay wedding, I met Courtney and Dave at The Dana and toured the venue. We considered the layout together, and they talked me through their schedule for the day – and then I got to work.
See, I don’t rely on pre-set plans when I set out to capture a wedding: when it’s possible, I love to tour the venue and create a tailored plan for photos. For this Mission Bay wedding, we crafted a custom plan so that on the day, Courtney and Dave didn’t have to worry about a single detail. I knew the perfect place to take each set of photos, and I was able to guide them through the schedule so that they could focus all their attention on what truly matters.
Literally – they celebrated with a firework display! It was spectacular, and the best send-off for this amazing couple.
